Giving thanks ... for you
As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of you for making Dallas a wonderful city.
I have had the good fortune to be with a number of neighborhood associations and crime watch groups in the past couple of months. These groups do so much to reduce crime and strengthen our community. They are the backbone of this city.
On National Night Out I visited the, Hockaday, Royal Hills, Les Jardins, Midway Hollow and Norhaven Park neighborhoods. I have recently attended meetings of the Glen Meadows Estates, Walnut Hill, Vickery Meadow, Sparkman Club Estates, Devonshire, Preston Hollow East and Preston Hollow North neighborhoods.
As we approach this season I also want to thank those of you who help tutor children, feed the hungry and work with myriad organizations and churches that help provide a safety net for those in need.
November 11 was Veterans Day and I attended the moving Veterans Day Parade downtown. I know that each of you join me in thanking our veterans for putting themselves in harm’s way and being willing to pay with their lives so that we can be free. A special thanks to our veterans, our police and fire fighters.

Due to one of the most severe droughts on record, the Dallas City Manager has called for Stage 1 watering
restrictions effective Monday, December 12. Dallas's six water-supply reservoirs are about 25 percent depleted and we'll all be helped by a twice-a-week watering schedule as follows:
